Art and Ministry

I was having a conversation with a friend about art and ministry. I was reminded once again that we as artists and believers are responsible for the content we release into the world. We can't be afraid to express what is coming from the heart of the Ultimate creator, God. Not every idea is a God idea. We have to be sure and aware that we are delivering "Art from the Heart of God".

We are unique as artists, often we are expected to be quirky, weird, strange or even perverse. There are those who take full license of this expectation and display their art in a way that does not reflect beauty, but rather expresses darkness and perversion. I believe that art should reflect the world as it is and also the world as we, through the eyes of The Creator would like it to be. What it can be. I am inspired by those who choose to see the world through those eyes.

The enemy of our life would have us reflect darkness and hopelessness and death. In the times we live in it is easy to go to that dark place. The challenge is to see the light and hope in the world and reflect it in the art we create. (read more)

"Lead Me To Calvary,"

from "The Journey's Just Begun"

"Lead Me To Calvary" is the third single from "The Journey's Just Begun." This song is a modern remake of a old negro spiritual. Produced and arranged by Garey Kennebrew, Lead Me To Calvary takes on hip hop and jazz legs that indicates how much i enjoy exploring new music and vocal territory. "The Journey's Just Begun" is an eclectic mix of Jazz and Soul music reflective of my belief that every day is a new beginning and the journey's just begun. This project includes a number of my original compositions.

I collaborated with a number of great musicians including: Brazilian born pianist/producer Thiago Pinheiro, producer/songwriter Garey Kennebrew,  producer/songwriter Ron Lobato, producer/songwriter Marques Brigham, and my husband Mike Hancock songwriter/producer, daughter and son -   Devonne-Lee, singer/songwriter and Beatmaster DOC singer/songwriter/poet.

Hear me as I explore more and more of my musical gifts of improvisation and interpretation. I see music as having the purpose of uplifiting the spirits of those who are willing to truly listen.

Each of the 15 songs from "The Journey's Just Begun" project are being released as a digital singles. I am being very thoughtful with each song selection. Being led by the Spirit is my focus, Love is the theme.  I believe this approach will allow me to create for you a richer music listening and buying experience. Healing Vine - The Story

Beyond a time that can be remembered, the world was a place where all lived in harmony. We lived and breathed as one, but each distinct in our gifts of Love, Creation, and Beauty.

Over time, fractures in the connection arose as a result of a disease of the mind called Self-Absorption. The connection of the One became the isolation of many.

As life grew darker and darker, the time came for that remnant of the One which remained to reclaim those lost. From them has emerged The Healing Vine.

One by one it restores the breach.
